Lara is always after some rare artefact, if it's in the games, in the comics or in the movies. The artefacts are usually powerful objects, denoting a forgotten ancient power. Some artefacts may need to be combined before its power can be revealed.

In some of the games Lara has to use the Crowbar to get an artefact out of a receptacle.
