Shotgun |
---|
The Shotgun is a common weapon in the Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Games and also seen in the Tomb Raider Movies.
It is typically a short-ranged firearm that fires either a spread of small pellets (shot) or a single, large bullet (slug). The shotgun is one of the oldest firearms designs still in use and is used in a wide variety of applications, from target shooting and hunting to military service.
At close range the Shotgun can kill most enemies in one or a few shots, but its power greatly decreases at range.

Occurrence
Games
In the classic Tomb Raider Games from the original Tomb Raider to Tomb Raider Chronicles, the Shotgun was pretty much the same from one game to another, only slight changes in the appearance. The biggest change was in Tomb Raider IV The Last Revelation and Tomb Raider Chronicles when the Shotgun had two kinds of ammunition: Shotgun Normal Ammo and Shotgun Wideshot Ammo.
Tomb Raider
The first occurrence of the shotgun is in the original Tomb Raider where it is first found in The Lost Valley.
Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business
The shotgun makes its return in Unfinished Business where it is first found in the level Return to Egypt.
Tomb Raider II
In Tomb Raider II the shotgun is first found in the level The Great Wall.
Tomb Raider II: The Golden Mask
In the add-on The Golden Mask the shotgun first occurs in the level The Cold War.
Tomb Raider III
In Tomb Raider III the shotgun is first found in the level Jungle.
Tomb Raider III: The Lost Artifact
in The Lost Artifact the shotgun is first found in the level Highland Fling.
Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation
The shotgun can also be found in Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation, in the level Tomb of Seth for the first time.
Tomb Raider: Chronicles
In Tomb Raider Chronicles the shotgun can be found in the level Trajan's Markets.
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness
- Main article: V-Packer
The shotgun in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness has the name V-Packer and can first be discovered in the level Tomb Of Ancients. There's two types of ammunition available: V-Packer Standard Cartridges and V-Packer Spread Cartridges. The weapon is carried throughout the Louvre Section from the level Tomb Of Ancients to Galleries Under Siege.
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend
In Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend the shotgun is first collected in the level Peru - Return to Paraíso.
It can load 5 rounds within its chamber, with another 20 rounds as spare - a total of 25 rounds for players to carry. But it won't feature the ammunition as a separate pickup; Lara picks up shotguns to get more ammunition.
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary
In Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary the shotgun is first picked up in Peru - The Lost Valley. Here it features single-typed ammunition as a separate pickup. The appearance of both the weapon and its ammunition are updated versions of the original Tomb Raider.
- There's also an unlockable cheat that enables Lara to use a Golden Shotgun. It is capable of one-shot kills and features unlimited ammunition.
Tomb Raider Underworld
In Tomb Raider Underworld the shotgun is available throughout the entire game via the weapons selection menu. There is no ammunition available for it as a pickup, the amount of ammunition varies depending on the difficulty setting from 90 to 42 shells.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
In Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light the Shotgun is found at the level Temple Grounds. Its properties are the following:
There are also four other types of shotguns in Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light:
Tomb Raider (2013)
Shotgun is one of the weapon types in Tomb Raider (2013).
The first shotgun Lara finds is a Trench Shotgun, which is found at the location Chasm Monastery. The Trench Shotgun can later be modified to a Pump-Action Shotgun, which then again can be modified to a Combat Shotgun. To modify the shotgun Lara needs to find Shotgun Parts. The shotgun can be upgraded to a more efficient weapon with the Shotgun Upgrades.
The Shotgun Ammunitioncomes in green-coloured metal ammunition caches.

Rise of the Tomb Raider
There are multiple Shotguns in Rise of the Tomb Raider. The first Shotgun can be found in the upper village of the Geothermal Valley during the attack of Trinity on the Remnant.
The Shotguns are particularly useful for close combat. They have an immense fire power but only a limited range.
Shotguns in RotTR
Weapons can be switched at any of the Base Camps, but only one shotgun can be equipped at any time.
