Resources
Resources can be used by Lara Croft for Crafting. While in Tomb Raider (2013) there was only Salvage, the Resources grew more diverse in Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Rise of the Tomb Raider
There are two types of Resources in Rise of the Tomb Raider: Common and exotic. While the common resources can be found quite easily, Lara has to actively seek out the uncommon ones, like the Exotic Hide of the Alpha Wolf. Lara can use these resources to craft other items, for example Poison Arrows.
The only exception are the Byzantine Coins that are of no use for crafting but can be swapped for gear in the Supply Shack.

Earlier Version
In the earlier demo versions of the game the Magnesite and Chromite Ore had different icons. Both looked more like precious gems. Also note that the amount of resources Lara could carry was significantly higher than it is now, even with fully upgraded Pouches.

There are 21 different Resources - five of them rare - in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. All of them can be found in Paititi or around the Peruvian Jungle. Some are missing from Mexico, though.
