Since the Tomb Raider (2013) reboot Lara is able to Loot fallen Enemies or hunted Animals.

In order to Loot a corpse Lara has to stand near it and press the button that is displayed on screen (interact, PS: Square.gif, Xbox: Act.gif). In Tomb Raider (2013) Lara gains XP, Salvage, and possibly Ammo (with human corpses), while in Rise of the Tomb Raider she will get Resources instead of the nondescript salvage.

Looting enemies is a vital source of XP and Resources; there are some ways to increase the amount of loot, e.g. the buying the Survivalist Skill Upgrade or wearing the Nightshade Outfit.
