A Shotgun is a weapon featured in all of the Tomb Raider Games in one form or another, from the very beginning. It's also fetured in the movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

It is typically a short-ranged firearm that fires either a spread of small pellets (shot) or a single, large bullet (slug). The shotgun is one of the oldest firearms designs still in use and is used in a wide variety of aplications, from target shooting and hunting to military service.

At close range the Shotgun can kill most enemies in one or a few shots, but its power greatly decreases at range.

Tomb Raider Classics

In the classic Tomb Raider Games from the original Tomb Raider to Tomb Raider Chronicles, the Shotgun was pretty much the same from one game to another, only slight changes in the appearance. The biggest change was in Tomb Raider IV The Last Revelation and Tomb Raider Chronicles when the Shotgun had two kinds of ammunition: Shotgun Normal Ammo and Shotgun Wideshot Ammo.

The Angel of Darkness

Main article: V-Packer

In The Angel of Darkness the Shotgun is under a new name, the V-Packer. There's two types of ammunition available: V-Packer Standard Cartridges and V-Packer Spread Cartridges. The weapon is carried through the Louvre Section from the level Tomb Of Ancients to Galleries Under Siege.

Tomb Raider Legend

The Shotgun in Tomb Raider Legend can load 5 rounds within its chamber, with another 20 rounds as spare - a total of 25 rounds for players to carry. But it won't feature the ammunition as a separate pickup.

Pump Action shotgun. Fires at wide spray of buckshot capable of geat damage at close range with decreasing effectiveness based on distance from target.
In-game information[1]

From the official site

For times when a few well-aimed bullets aren't sufficient, Lara appreciates the solid familiarity of a simple pump-action shotgun. It can always be counted on to fire a side spray of buckshot capable of delivering a great deal of damage at close range.

Tomb Raider Anniversary

In Tomb Raider Anniversary the Shotgun returns with a single-typed ammunition as a separate pickup. The appearance of both the weapon and it's ammunition are updated versions of the original Tomb Raider.

A heavy damage pump action shotgun. More effective at close range.
Instruction Booklet[2]

Golden Shotgun

Main article: Golden Shotgun

In Tomb Raider Anniversary, there's also an unlockable cheat that enables Lara to use a Golden Shotgun. It is capable to one-shot kills and features unlimited ammunition.

Tomb Raider Underworld

In Tomb Raider Underworld the Shotgun is available throughout the whole game via the weapons selection menu. There is no ammunition available for it as a pickup, the amount of ammunition varies depending on the difficulty setting from 90 to 42 shells.

The '12 gauge GN Tactical Shotgun' features an 18-inch barrel and telescoping stock. While its front and rear sights do increase accuracy, the GNT Shotgun is most dangerous in close quarters and is less effective over long distances.
In-game information[3]

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light

In Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light the Shotgun is found at the level Temple Grounds. Its properties are the following:

Weapon Power: 4

Rate of Fire: 2

Ammo Consumption: 3
In-game information[4]

There are also four other types of Shotguns in Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light: the Automatic Shotgun, the Double Barrel Shotgun, the High Power Shotgun and the Golden Shotgun.

Tomb Raider (2013)

Shotgun is one of the weapon types in Tomb Raider (2013).

The first Shotgun Lara finds is a Trench Shotgun, which is found at the location Chasm Monastery. The Trench Shotgun can later be modified to a Pump-Action Shotgun, which then again can be modified to a Combat Shotgun. The Shotgun can be upgraded to a more efficient weapon with the Shotgun Upgrades.

The ammunition for the Shotgun comes in green-coloured metal boxes.
