Coin Caches

Coin Caches are a Secret in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Together with Survival Caches they replace the GPS Caches of Tomb Raider (2013).
Ancient Coins can be traded for upgrades and equipment.
"Ancient Coins" In-Game Description
Finding a Coin Cache rewards Lara with +25 XP and an unspecific amount of Byzantine Coins. They can be found both in Syria and Siberia. Unlike Survival Caches, Coin Caches can only be found after a Lara deciphers on of the Monoliths, which apparently contain hints as to where the Caches are located. After translating a Monolith the Coin Caches get charted in the in-game map where they can be identified by the coin symbol - a black circle with two white Xs inside.
