Torch
The Torch is a helpful tool found for the first time in The Last Revelation. It makes its return in Tomb Raider Chronicles and also appears in many Custom Levels, as well as - in a new and improved form - in the Tomb Raider Reboot.
When found the torch is unlit. Lara has to find spot where she can light it. This might be a simple camp fire, a lit wall torch, a burning barrel etc.
A burning torch can then be used to light other things like ropes or candles, to burn through a wooden floor or to scare the Little Demons away.
In the 2013 reboot torches will reprise their role as a main puzzle element. They can be used as a light source and a way to set fire to other objects. The first occurrence will be in the first level, the Scavenger Den.
