Little Bird is the affectionate nickname Jonah has given Lara. He uses it frequently when ha wants to lift her spirits.
There seem to be lot of Maori myths including "Little Birds", so this may be of cultural importance. In this respect the tale of Māui is especially interesting, as he is accompanied by little birds on his search for immortality.
