Zip's Tech Centre is a room of the Croft Manor, it is one of the few parts that stayed intact for a long time after the explosion caused by the Doppelgänger breaking into the vault to steal Amanda Evert Wraith Stone. It is also the place where Lara witnesses the doppelgänger murdering her research assistant Alister Fletcher.
As we learn in Tomb Raider Underworld the Tech Centre is not only adjacent to the Main Hall but also holds the entrance to the Croft Family Crypt, a fact that upsets Zip and Alister.
