A Shotgun typically a short-ranged firearm that fires either a spread of small pellets (shot) or a single, large bullet (slug). The shotgun is one of the oldest firearms designs still in use and is used in a wide variety of aplications, from target shooting and hunting to military service.
The shotgun, in one form or another, has been in the Tomb Raider Series from the beginning. At close range it can kill most enemies in one or a few shots, but its power greatly decreases at range.

Tomb Raider Classic
In the first Tomb Raiders there was only one kind of shotgun ammo. Since The Last Revelation the Shotgun had two different kinds of ammo, normal ammo and wideshot ammo. The wideshot ammo is best used against multiple opponents or a bigger one like the Dragonheads in Rome. Lara must cycle the action after every shot, but there is no need to reload the feed tube. The weapon basically "holds" as many rounds as you can carry.
Ammunition
- Shotgun Normal Ammo (TR4)
- Shotgun Wideshot Ammo (TR4)
The Angel of Darkness
In The Angel of Darkness the shotgun is the V-Packer.
Tomb Raider Legend
from the official site
For times when a few well-aimed bullets aren't sufficient, Lara appreciates the solid familiarity of a simple pump-action shotgun. It can always be counted on to fire a side spray of buckshot capable of delivering a great deal of damage at close range.
In Game
The shotgun can load 5 rounds within its chamber, with another 20 rounds as spare - a total of 25 rounds for players to carry.
One hit will kill in point blank range against most enemies in Legend. Animals, Heavy Armoured Mercenary and Support Mercenary require two shots to bring down.
Tomb Raider Anniversary
In Tomb Raider Anniversary the shotgun is similar to the Tomb Raider 1 shotgun. The shotgun ammo is also similar to the one from the original Tomb Raider.
Tomb Raider Underworld
In Tomb Raider Underworld the shotgun is similar to the one featured in Legend. Unknown exactly where you can acquire it, it can be seen in the picture of Lara in her manor with a flashlight.
