Joachim Karel is a character from Angel of Darkness.
At the end of the game Lara finds out that he is one of the Nephilim race, which explains the scene outside the Louvre where Kurtis was knocked out and the man who did it knocked out Lara as well and then changed from a normal guard to Bouchard's Bodyguard.
