The Winding Key is a tool found in the level Pharos, Temple of Isis in The Last Revelation. When combined with the Mechanical Scarab it makes a device, Mechanical Beetle, which is used in the level Cleopatra's Palace to trigger Floor Spikes, making it safe to go through a passage and get a scarab.
