Jean-Yves is a real person who found the Pharos Lighthouse in Alexandria.
In the game(s) he was a good friend of Laras who lived in Alexandria. He helped her with his knowledge, when she was trying to recapture Set in The Last Revelation.
In Chronicles he was renamed Charles Kane because in The Last Revelation his name was used without asking.
