The Stone Daises appear in Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Underworld. It is unclear exactly how they work or who built them, but they appear to teleport the user into an alternate dimension. It appears that the daises are linked, because as one is activated so is a second, but in a different time period.
Legend
In Legend Lara comes across a dais when her plane crash lands in Nepal. She activates the dais with a sword, opening a portal through which blurred images from the future are seen. Her mother removes the sword, and in a blinding flash of light, vanishes. Lara's father Richard Croft had previously discovered another dais in Bolivia.
For the role of the diases in the storyline of Legend, see the Tomb Raider Legend page.
Underworld
In Tomb Raider Underworld Natla reveals that the diases are actually part of an ancient transport network [1].
For the role of the diases in the plot of Underworld see the Tomb Raider Underworld Story page.
