Kathmandu, Nepal is one of the locations Lara visits in the Tomb Raider Comics and mentioned in Lara Croft's backstory in the booklet of the original Tomb Raider.
Lara Croft's Revised Back Story
At the age of 9 young Lara and her mother survive a plane crash in the Himalayas. When Lara's mother disappears, Lara wanders through the wilderness for ten days, till she finally arrived in Kathmandu.
Comics
Following the trail left by Chase Carver, in the Saga of the Medusa Mask, Lara travels to Kathmandu in Tomb Raider: The Series Vol. 1, Issue 2. After being reunited with Chase, Lara heads out into the mountains to find the mask.
