Streets of Rome is the first level of Tomb Raider Chronicles.

The Streets of Rome is a fairly simple level in terms of structure. It consists of two areas, one centred around a courtyard with a fountain in it, the other around the Gate Garden. Lara starts at the backstage entrance of the Opera House that she visited the previous evening. She can gain access to the second area by exploring the apartment buildings nearby.

The second area around the Gate Garden is more interesting. A passage from the garden leads off to a raised area where there is a temple like structure, rising above the rest of the neighbourhood. There are several explanations for this structure. It could be some kind of interpretation of the Victor Emmanuel Monument, which was erected to commemorate Italy's first king in the 1800s. It could also be the Temple of Jupiter Capitolinus which was sited at the top of the Capitoline Hill in Rome. It could also be a Temple to Saturn, as this is where you find the Saturn Stone.
The Monstrum Crimescene is the first level part of the Prague section from The Angel of Darkness. Lara has arrived in one of the more expensive neighbourhoods of Prague, with large apartment buildings surrounding a courtyard. This is the first time in the game that it is suggested that 'The Angel of Darkness' takes place in winter. Lara must access Vasiley's apartment through the sewers that run underneath the courtyard. Vasiley's building consists of several corridors of backrooms that leads onto a grand entrance hall decorated in Art Nouveau style. Lara must access his office that is hidden beneath the floor, retrieve the last Obscura Engraving and get some more information on the Nephilim, the Periapt Shards and the Sanglyph. She must then get to the Strahov complex with Luddick's help.

The Ireland levels of 'Tomb Raider Chronicles' are played through by the young Lara. While staying at Winston's cottage in Connussie with his wife as repairs are being carried out in Croft Manor, Lara notices the entrance of Father Patrick Dunstan, a local Catholic priest. He announces to Winston that he plans to go over to the Black Island to investigate ghostly apparitions and hauntings. Lara is determined to find out what's going on, and stows away on a boat that Father Dunstan hires to take him across to the Island. Lara hides under a tarpaulin. When they reach the opposite shore, Lara sees the priest go into a cave that seals up again instantly.

The level can be divided into three main areas. The first is the gorge that Lara must cross in order to proceed. The second is the stone buildings and cottages by the church steeple; this area also contains the Gallows Tree itself. The final area is the series of rock-cut tombs that Lara must investigate.

The enemies in this level are various Bats, Rats and Imps.

By far the most interesting event in the level is the cutscene involving the hanged man in the twisted and dead Gallows Tree. He asks Lara to return his heart that is caught in the roots of the World Tree (in this instance, the Gallows Tree), which is guarded by the dragon Niddhog. He ends this with the phrase "My soul is gone, and how it fares, nobody knows, and nobody cares!" this is followed by a burst of sinister laughter and his subsequent disappearance.

Examining this event throws up several insights and questions into the level's design. The 'World Tree' and the dragon named Niddhog is parallel to Norse mythology, which is accurate as for part of it's history Ireland was invaded and settled by Vikings. However, there is no appearance of a dragon, and the Gallows Tree is unlikely to be a candidate for the 'World Tree' - it is rather short and stumpy, with no foliage. However, it's roots appear to extend all across the village area.

The cottages themselves are also interesting. Although they may look like buildings from Medieval Europe, cottages like these were being built and inhabited well into the twentieth century in rural and isolated communities in Ireland and Scotland. The fact that these cottages were inhabited at least in the late nineteenth or early twentieth centuries is proved by the appearance of a bicycle in one of them. The church belltower is almost completely ruined, and the structure of the village appears fairly illogical, as the cottages can only be reached by traversing several pools of water.

The rock cut tombs with their stone sarcophagi are fairly accurate, and are great fun to explore. It is slightly worrying however, that the torches that they are equipped with are still burning. There is one appearance of a greater demonic presence in the village, as Lara meets up with Father Dunstan as he is exorcising a creature that resides in a deep hole. He throws a piece of iron into the abyss, and the creature appears to disappear.

City of Vilcabamba is the second level in the original Tomb Raider.

The city of Vilcabamba is a real-life location, as the last stronghold of the Incan Empire after the invasion of the Spanish. Vilcabamba was built shortly before the Spanish invasion, was used as a stronghold from 1539 and fell in 1572. It was found again by Hiram Bingham, the discoverer of the far better-known site of Machu Picchu, but he failed to realise it's significance. It was ignored for decades until the excavations of Professor Edmundo Guillan and Polish explorers Tony Halik and Elżbieta Dzikowska that Vilcabamba was found once again.

Vilcabamba is not located within a mountain, but is sited in a rainforest.
Tihocan, one of the triumverate, the three sacred rulers of Atlantis along with Qualopec and Natla. Together they created the Scion, a device of immeasurable power and the ultimate power source of Atlantis.

Biography
Tihocan along with Qualopec both sentenced Natla to eternal imprisonment for misusing her power of the Scion in an attempt to create genetic mutations and for using the army of Atlantis against them. He and Qualopec were present at her incarceration in present day New Mexico, USA. In Anniversary Tihocan was the one who summoned the ice to imprison Natla in contrast to a machine used in the original game. They then sealed her piece of the Scion within the city of Khamoon in a sanctuary.

After the destruction of Atlantis, he escaped to Greece. He established a civilization of antiquity and tried to keep rule over the barren lands. He died (allegedly) and was supposed to be buried in a tomb along with his piece of the Scion. On top of his tomb lay layers of huge complex composed of a Cistern, a palace dedicated to the Phrygian King Midas, an Amphitheatre and a monastery. It is ambiguous to whether Tihocan constructed this complex. The door to his tomb is guarded by two Atlantean centaurs that resemble statues, but which are revived when the tomb is opened.

Appearence
His original appearance shows a man wearing a helmet with a visor illuminating his eyes green and covering his face. He wears his piece of the Scion around his neck and is dressed in dark Atlantean garbs. In Anniversary his face is shown and his dress is more extravagant.

Deceased?
Lara finds Tihocan's tomb empty ...

St. Francis Folly
It is doubtful that a monastery would have been built by Franciscan monks in Greece, althought the Catholic Venetians did have significant territorial gains in the Aegean sea and on various Greek Islands, eventually conquering as far as Cyprus. However, the location of Phrygia, which was the kingdom of the mythic King Midas is actually based in inland Turkey. This could suggest then, that all the Greek levels are not actually based in Greece, but in Turkey - but that the structures were built by Asiatic Greeks who colonised parts of Turkey themselves. Whether a Catholic monastery would have been built in Turkey is therefore unlikely, but it is possible that earlier groups of Christians such as the Armenian, Syriac or Greek Orthodox Churches - as the style of the building in Anniversary is certainly not lavish enough to be from the Medieval period.

The name of the monastery - Saint Francis - probably refers to the number of animals (lions, crocodiles, gorillas, bats and rats) present within the structure, and not the saint himself. It could even be a later name for the monastery.
Chambers Of Tulun is a level in the Cairo-part of The Last Revelation.

The Mosque of Ibn Tulun is the largest mosque in Cairo in terms of land area, and also the oldest. It was built between 876-879CE, and was backed onto by the Ibn Tulun's Palace and other important buildings. As Lara will find, the mosque is mostly constructed around a large square courtyard, with various buildings surrounding it. The courtyard is all Lara really gets to explore, but there is a series of chambers that might be some kind of warehouse, but you can only access this area once you've upgraded your transport. There're a few Egyptian Soldiers scattered around whose tempers haven't improved, and a Taur Demigod in one area. Watch out for the flying Giant Scarabs too.
Cleopatra was the last Queen of Egypt. In this large palace complex that has been submerged in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Alexandria, Cleopatra has hidden various pieces of the Armour of Horus, but we don't know why she did it. It's not exactly obvious how this palace was used, as there are very few rooms that have obvious functions - there's a throne room, a garden area...and that's about it. Most of the rest include various trapped hallways and large puzzle rooms, guarded by Armoured Skeletons and Vraeus - and at the end there are two of Cleopatra's Guards to remove any of Lara's pretensions of grandeur.
Jerome "The Kid" Johnson was a character in both Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider Anniversary.

Tomb Raider
Simply referred to as the "Skateboard Kid", he was one of the three Lara had to face whilst working through Natla's Mines. He wielded dual Uzis. He was not given a background for the first game.

Tomb Raider Anniversary
Anniversary removes the skateboard. Toby Gard explained in the unlockable commentary that it made less sense to have him on a skateboard.
[source: Tomb Raider Anniversary strategy guide]

Info From The Game
The Kid was small-time gang leader in Los Angeles until his crew tried to carjack Jacqueline Natla's limousine. Natla's bodyguard, Kin Kade, eliminated the entire gang but spared the Kid by his employer's request. Natla needed a contact in the West Coast criminal underground and the fast-talking Kid fit the job description. The Kid holds a grudge against Kin Kade for the murder of his blood brothers, but he's just smart enough not to act on any retaliatory impulses.
Pharos, Temple Of Isis is the 19th level in The Last Revelation.
Pharos was originally an offshore island of Alexandria. Later in it's history the Lighthouse of Alexandria was built, one of the Ancient Seven Wonders of the World, at some point in the third century BCE. The tower became very famous and was recognised all over the known world, news of it even reaching the Chinese. It was still standing in the early Medieval period. However, two earthquakes in the 1300's collapsed the structure at last, and it was declared unsafe for use. The rubble remained until 1480, when the current Fort Quaitbey was built over the site of the Lighthouse, using some of the remains. What Lara explores appears to be a Temple to Isis hidden in the foundations of the Lighthouse which are still standing; however, Pharos was not known to hold a temple at all.
There are no secrets in the level. The main goal is to collect four black beetles and get the winding key. To do that you must slide down and get three black beetles with the crowbar and get the fourth one from the next level, Cleopatra's Palaces. Then you must return to this level and place the four beetles in the pyramid. Then you must collect both parts of the key and combine it so you can progress in the next level.
The Hall Of Demetrius is the 18th level in The Last Revelation. It has one secret. The goal is to get the Pharos Knot and leave. The left painting is a picture of Osiris and the left painting is a picture of Hades with his three headed dog - the Greek god of the dead. The paintings of these gods could have possibly been the reason there were different ambient noises than in The Lost Library, instead the ambient noises from the burial chambers after getting the Amulet of Horus from Seth's tomb are used. The noise's could have been present because of these paintings, they were both gods of the dead.
The Hall of Demetrius is presumably named after Demetrius of Phaleron, a Greek scholar and orator who was banished from Greece to Egypt. He took up residence in the city, proposed the building of the Library of Alexandria, and made many additions to it's collection, writing on politics, philosophy, history and poetry.
The Library of Alexandria was once the greatest repository of knowledge in the Ancient World. It was founded during the reign of Ptolemy II of Egypt at some point in the third century BCE, and was patronised by many famous ancient scholars including Plato and Demetrius of Phaleron, whose Hall Lara later enters. The famous destruction of the Library is considered to have been committed either by the Romans from 48BCE by Julius Caeser to 391CE by the Emperor Theodosius or by Muslim invaders at some point in the seventh century CE.
The part of the Library that Lara visits is essentially a large hall with two stories of doors and balconies running round it. At the opposite side from where Lara enters are the doors of the Hall of Demetrius - this is your goal. The smaller doors lead to rooms where you can see some of the fantastical projects that the Library's inhabitants left unfinished. The Library of Alexandria might well have been much larger than the level in the game, and indeed does not appear to contain many books, focusing instead on mechanics, astronomy, mathematics, sorcery and music.
Sacred Lake is a level in The Last Revelation. As with other Karnak locations so far, the Sacred Lake is a real-life location within the temple complex. Most Egyptian temples had pools for the cleansing of worshippers, and the Sacred Lake was one of these, although much larger and more elaborate than it's counterparts. It is also another level that can be accessed several times from preceeding ones, although it cannot be accessed from the next level, the Tomb of Semerkhet.

The Sacred Lake is divided into two areas. The lake itself, with various crocodiles and a large tomb like structure at one side; and the entrance to the 'Tomb of Semerkhet': four gates surrounding an island upon which Lara places the Sun Talisman to access the tomb.
KV5 is the sixth level in The Last Revelation and will conclude the King's Valley section.

The Jeep chase from the Valley of the Kings level continues. KV5 is in reality the location of the Tomb of the sons of Rameses the Second. It has been quoted as the 'Second Most Important Discovery' in the Valley of the Kings since the opening of Tutankhamun's tomb by Howard Carter.

The level is relatively simple, as Lara merely has to pursue the Enemy Jeep through the ruins and the desert. There are few traps apart from some pitfalls and some large spiked balls. Lara only has to leave the jeep once to open a big gate and four more times to collect Secrets 22 - 25.

After the destruction of Atlantis, he escaped to the Greece. He established a civilization of antiquity and tried to keep rule over the barren lands. He died (allegedly) and was supposed to be buried in a tomb along with his piece of the Scion. On top of his tomb lay layers of huge complex composed of a Cistern, Palace dedicated to the Phrygian King Midas, an Amphitheatre and a monastery.

St. Francis is supposed to have visited Cyprus , one of the possible sites for Tihocan's tomb (one which would have been left above water despite the drowning of Atlantis by a flood, if that is what happened).
It was the ship of Gianni Bartoli, the deceased father of Marco Bartoli. The father of Brother Chan was responsible for sinking the ship. Their mission was to keep the Seraph, which was on board, from being used by Gianni Bartoli.

The name of the ship must have been taken from the Andrea Doria, a real ship. Many elements also bear some esthetical similarities with the Titanic (windows, pavement, among others).

The ship is also mentioned by Lara on reading on of the books that lie scattered around Croft Manor in Tomb Raider: Anniversary.
The Lost Library is a level in The Last Revelation game that has three secrets. The main goal of the level is to get in the Hall of Demetrius, but first you must get around the level by solving puzzles and opening the giant blue doors.
The Library of Alexandria might well have been much larger than the level in the game, and indeed does not appear to contain many books, focusing instead on mechanics, astronomy, mathematics, sorcery and music.
Catacombs is a level in The Last Revelation. It can be reached from the Coastal Ruins.
The original catacombs are buried beneath the Basilica of San Sebastiano in Rome. Catacomb structures were copied in many cities across the empire - famous examples also exist outside Rome and in Paris. The catacombs in Roman cities were also used as refuges for the Christian population, who were persecuted by the authorities and often could not live openly among normal Roman society.
The Roman idea of catacombs would have been popular with the Egyptians, who were already used to the idea of mummifying and entombing their dead. The catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa are a real location in Alexandria itself, and combine Egyptian, Greek and early Imperial Roman influences - this is probably what Lara visits while in the city.
Inside the catacombs Lara will encounter Skeletons. She can use ancient lifts. Her task is to collect four Tridents for use in the Temple of Poseidon.
The Coastal Ruins can be found in Alexandria in The Last Revelation.

As the name suggests, these are the ruins of Greek and Roman buildings from Classical Alexandria - palaces, temples and other buildings. This fits with the real life Alexandria itself - the city had many fantastic buildings in it's Hellenistic heyday - buildings such as the Timonium, the Emporium, the Serapeum and the Musaeum, which housed Alexandria's famous Library; which you will see later on.

It is a gorgeously aesthetic level, with a beautiful outside area in which plenty of secret exploring can be done. It is possible to jump a huge section of the game, - cutting out the much-loathed section in which Lara revisits various areas of the immense Catacombs and the coastal ruins surrounding them an inordinate amount of times - and arrive straight at the Temple of Isis by leaping along the rocks in the sea and jumping into the water at the right point - sadly however, the two needed keys to get past the first water room are found in an area you won't have visited yet, and therefore you must wait and traverse the whole section of the game.

Coastal Ruins may turn out to be your most visited level, as it connects all the Alexandria levels together - there's even a fairground attraction if things get too serious for you!
Alexandria is a coastal city in Egypt. Alexandria was founded by Alexander the Great, who gave the city its name, and was intended to be the capital of his empire. After his death in 323 BCE, Egypt became part of the Ptolemaic Empire, after one of Alexander's generals. Cleopatra, whose sunken palace Lara discovers in the sea off Alexandria, was the last of the Ptolemies, at which point Egypt was incorporated into the Roman Empire.

Although it has been ruled successively by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and the Ottomans, Lara sees little of the city itself. The area that Lara arrives in is fairly suburban and, given it's proximity to the Coastal Ruins must be fairly close to the sea. Lara's main purpose in Alexandria is to meet up with her friend Jean Yves, who has taken a house that looks onto the courtyard with the fountain in the middle. Jean Yves gives her directions as to where she should continue to search for the pieces of the Armour of Horus, supposedly scattered by Cleopatra herself among the ruined palaces and temples on the coast.
Desert Railroad is a level in The Last Revelation.

For the first time in the Tomb Raider series, Lara is aboard a moving train, and Von Croy's mercenaries are determined she is going to get off - the hard way. In other words - leaping from carriage to carriage - Lara must find the secrets and defeat the mercenaries, more of whom board the already jam-packed train by leaping on from the roof of chasing jeeps. If you have found the grenade gun in the secret carriage, you can use the flash grenades to distract them as they jump and watch them go flying away into the distance. Falling from the train results in instant death!

Eventually, Lara uses the crowbar in an empty level to separate her carriage from the rest of the train, allowing her to cruise along to Alexandria - the next level - in peace.
Guardian of Semerkhet is a level in The Last Revelation.

This level is basically a continuation of the Tomb of Semerkhet where Lara must now escape the Sphinx Bull, a large metallic bull. This bull is representative of the god Apis, and is determined to chase down the intruder. The level comprises of a series of puzzle rooms and then a long corridor - at the end you must trick the Guardian into helping you escape. This level is noticeably more drab in style than the exotic and colourful Tomb of Semerkhet, but it's only a place to pass through to find an exit after all. There is however, a rather intriguing map of Ancient Egypt; useful too, as it helps you escape out of the tomb.
The Sphinx Bull is a baddy from The Last Revelation.

He appears at the Guardian of Semerkhet and in Street Bazaar. The bull is invincible, and will charge at Lara with every opportunity. Lara manipulates the bull into smashing through doors, smashing into stone door switches to open an escape door from the Guardian of Semerkhet, and to smash crates. Lara would stand in front of the object that needed to be smashed. As the bull charged, she would move out of the way using her acrobatic skills at the last minute.

We can assume from the name of the level, that the bull was the guardian of Semerkhet's tomb. The appearance in street bazaar could link it to Seth since many beasts were appearing around the City of the Dead in Cairo.
Tomb of Semerkhet is a level in The Last Revelation.

The 'Tomb of Semerkhet' is a huge underground structure which was built to house the remains of Semerkhet, High Priest of Horus. Interestingly, the tomb can only be accessed with the Amulet of Horus and since we see Semerkhet in the FMV when Seth is imprisoned, this throws up various questions about the chronology of the events in the game.

In reality, the tomb of even a high priest would not necessarily be so large, or so elaborately decorated and trap-filled. However, as Semerkhet's status as high priest when Seth was imprisoned, and the need to keep Seth entombed, the builders of the temple may have thought it expediant to site the temple close to the holy Temple of Karnak, and to make it as difficult as possible for any grave robbers. This level is possibly the most complex in 'The Last Revelation' so far.

In this level Lara has to play a round of Senet with Semerkhet. She has to search for the Senet Rules first. If she loses the game, she can access an area where she will find the Secrets #33- #37. If she wins the game she will miss those secrets.

In this area she will also find the Ba Cartouche and the Ra Catouche.
