My addiction to Tomb Raider started back in 1997 (I was 16.) and was playing around in Lara's outdoor obstacle course in Tomb Raider 2 at a friend's house. Finally a game for female gamers that will not disappoint; I was hooked after I first heard Lara say, "No, that's not right..." in her British accent. That summer I bought a Sony Playstation along with my very first Tomb Raider [classic] game.

She is the daughter of [[Lord Henshingly Croft]] and was raised to be an aristocrat from birth. After attending finishing school at the age of 21, Lara's marriage into wealth has seem assured, but on her way home from a skiing trip her chartered plane had crashed deep in the heart of the [[Himalayas]]. The only survivor, Lara learned how to depend on her wits to stay alive in hostile conditions a world away from her sheltered upbringing. 2 weeks later, when she walked into the village of [[Tokakeriby]] her experience had had a profound effect on her. Unable to stand the claustrophobic suffocating atmosphere of upper-class British society, she realised that she was only truly alive when she was travelling alone. Over the 8 following years she acquired an intimate knowledge of ancient civilisations across the globe. Her family disowned their prodigal daughter, and she turned to writing to fund her trips. Famed for discovering several ancient sites of profound archaeological interest she made a name for herself by publishing travel books and detailed journals of her exploits.

The daughter of Lord Henshingly Croft, Lara was brought up in the secure world of aristocracy - wanting for nothing she was surrounded by servants, social events and high society.

Having attended Wimbledon High School for Girls from the age of 11 years, Lara's parents decided that now she was 16, she should broaden her education by studying for her A'levels at one of England's most prominent boarding schools. An adventurous soul, Lara found the idea of being sent away from home an exciting prospect. By chance one day Lara came across a copy of National Geographic on the hall table. The front cover featured a familiar name - Professor [[Werner Von Croy]]. A respected archaeologist, Von Croy had once lectured at Lara's school to pupils and parents alike. The experience had a profound effect on Lara, triggering a desire to travel to remote locations in search of adventure. In some ways Von Croy had become an inspirational figure for Lara.

As Lara read further, she learned that Von Croy was currently preparing for an archaeological tour across Asia, culminating in a potential new discovery to be made in Cambodia. Unable to contain herself, Lara burst into the room, thrust the article in front of her parents and without hesitation demanded she accompany Von Croy on his expedition. Lord Croft could hardly disagree that travel was an education in itself. As Lara argued the case further, he found himself walking over to the desk and penning a letter to Von Croy, introducing himself as an influential society figure and offering financial assistance in exchange for his daughter's place on the expedition.

Von Croy's reply assured the Henshingly Crofts that the territories were friendly and that he had ample experience to look after both his and Lara's well being. Lara's company as an assistant would be welcome, as was the offer of such a generous cheque. He remembered Lara from his lecture - her incessant yet insightful questions had made quite an impression upon him.

And so it was agreed by all that Lara would accompany Von Croy for the duration of the tour...

Lara Croft is the 11th Countess of Abbingdon. The Croft family was granted the title and rights to Abbingdon, Surrey by King Edward VI in [[1547]]. Lara was born on [[February 14th]], [[1968]] to [[Lady Amelia Croft]], Countess of Abbingdon and to the notorious archaeologist [[Lord Richard Henshingly Croft]], 10th Earl of Abbingdon.

Reputably an accredited genius and Olympic-standard gymnast, Lady Croft was the focus of wild speculation and intense debate in both the scientific and political communities in addition to the popular press. Lara's methods are frequently called into question by government officials and other practising archaeologists. She has been described variously as anything from cavalier to downright irresponsible. Some scholars suggest that her notorious lack of documentation and brute force methodology had contaminated countless sites and done more harm than good. There have even been allegations that Lara actually took items from these sites before informing the international community of their locations, and that she is "nothing more than a glorified treasure hunter".

At the age of nine, Lara survived a plane crash in the [[Himalaya]]n mountains that resulted in the death of her mother. It is impossible to verify this fan speculation at the moment, but given the changes in the Lara biography that have occurred since Toby Gard has been involved once again in game development, it would be ironic if the original "masculine" version of Lara was designed by women, whilst the most recent "feminine" version of Lara was designed by men.

That doesn't even make any sense; there is no Lara Croft character if there hasn't been Tomb Raider [games] or any of the movies and the cultural phenomena is the result of the amount attention gained from the advertisement of the games and movies (especially after the movies). The front cover featured a familiar name - Professor [[Werner Von Croy]]. A respected archaeologist, Von Croy had once lectured at Lara's school to pupils and parents alike. The experience had a profound effect on Lara, triggering a desire to travel to remote locations in search of adventure. In some ways Von Croy had become an inspirational figure for Lara.

As Lara read further, she learned that Von Croy was currently preparing for an archaeological tour across Asia, culminating in a potential new discovery to be made in Cambodia. Unable to contain herself, Lara burst into the room, thrust the article in front of her parents and without hesitation demanded she accompany Von Croy on his expedition. Lord Croft could hardly disagree that travel was an education in itself. As Lara argued the case further, he found himself walking over to the desk and penning a letter to Von Croy, introducing himself as an influential society figure and offering financial assistance in exchange for his daughter's place on the expedition.

Von Croy's reply assured the Henshingly Crofts that the territories were friendly and that he had ample experience to look after both his and Lara's well being. Lara's company as an assistant would be welcome, as was the offer of such a generous cheque. He remembered Lara from his lecture - her incessant yet insightful questions had made quite an impression upon him.

Even though I adore '''Tomb Raider I [classic]''' I despised the method of saving in that game. It seemed you had to go to such great lengths to be able to save the game if you were a clumsy gamer. There are areas that should have had more Save Crystals because of the chances of totally messing up and killing Lara or having to backtrack.

With Tomb Raider II, I enjoyed the freedom of saving where ever I was but I also accidently reloaded instead of saving. However it was alot better than '''Tomb Raider I [classic] & Tomb Raider III'''. I'd save where ever I knew I would have a problem as and I definitely did not have to backtrack if Lara died or etc. It was great freedom.

* Zip: Once again we find ourselves on top of a mountain with no climbing gear.
* Alister: And I doubt any of that snow and ice is stable. You should keep moving before it brakes on you.

[Lara has just opened the temple door in Ghana. Rutland notices her.]
* Rutland: Lara. You're a busy beaver aren't you.

* Lara: You know long distance relationships inevitably come to an end.
* Rutland: I'd wish you luck with that but..er..ya' know.

[Lara arrives in Bolivia Stone Dais]
* Lara: Everyone between me and the stone dies.

[Lara puts Excalibur in the Stone Dais]
* Amelia: What? Who are you?
* Lara: Mother, it's Lara, your daughter
* Amelia: Daughter? What about my daughter?
* Lara: Don't touch the sword!
[Amanda awakes]
* Amanda: Take out the sword!
* Lara: What? No! Mother. Mother listen to me.
* Amanda: Everything will explode unless you pull out the sword!

[The Stone Dais explodes]
* Amanda: Idiot! You ruined everything!
* Lara: All these years I blamed myself for my mother's death, but it was you, you killed her.

* Natla: Good afternoon, Miss Croft. My research department has recently turned its focus to the study of ancient artifacts. And I'm led to believe that, with the right incentive, you're just the woman to find them for me.
* Lara: I'm afraid you've been misled. I only play for sport.
* Natla: Which is precisely why I've come to you, Miss Croft. This is a game you've played before; with your Father. [The screen shows pictures of Scion and some atlantean letters] You both spent years searching for the Scion of Atlantis. All you needed was the location of Qualopec's Tomb.
* Lara: You've found Vilcabamba?
* Natla: How quickly can you get to Peru?

[In Peru's mountains]
* Richard Croft (message): Vilcabamba continues to elude us, and my insistence that we press on in spite of these failures has morale low... I suspect Jenkins to be the author of this sedition; he simply refuses to accepts the possibility that Atlantis is the foundation upon which all known civilizations were built. Increasingly, I find it is Lara alone who remains untainted by academic dogma and open-minded enough to see this truth.
* Guide: I'm sorry; I didn't bring enough rope.
* Lara: Not to worry. I will find another way up.

[Lara enters Qualopec's tomb. She observes his corpse and the two mummified creatures]
* Lara (reading the wall): Here sits the God-King Qualopec; One of the Triumvirate; Keepers of the Three pieces of Scion; Diviners of its knowledge; Sacred rulers of Atlantis.

[Lara gets out from the tomb and meets Larson, waiting for her]
* Larson: I'd love to join you, but I forgot my trunks.
* Lara: Why am I not surprised?
* Larson: You've got your job; I've got mine. I'll take it from here.
* Lara: I hope Natla sent you here with more than that shotgun.
* Larson: Don't sweat it, kitten; I prefer a more hands-on approach.

[Lara is interrogating Larson, after defeating him]
* Lara: This is only one piece of Scion. Where's the rest of it?
* Larson: Gimme a minute, I'm thinking.
[Lara points her guns to Larson's face]
* Larson: Whoa! It makes no difference to me: Pierre's probably already found his piece.
* Lara: Pierre Dupont? Where?
* Larson: Now that I don't know.
* Lara: All right. I'm convinced.
* Larson: Damn, you really had me going there.

[Lara watches a video with Larson spying her in Qualopec's tomb]
* Larson: Looks like our girl's pulled it off.
* Natla: Of course she has. Now it's up to you.
* Larson: Not that I'm complaining boss, but what makes you so sure she's not going to bring it back herself?
* Natla: Lara would never part with the Scion; she's far too obsessed with it. Just like her father.
[Lara changes the video]
* Natla: Ah, Monsieur Dupont, you have something to report?
* Pierre: Good news, Madame, your information was correct. I have located my piece of the Scion. Voilà. It is bured under a place called-
[Lara stops the video]
* Lara: St. Francis Folly.

[In St. Francis Folly entrance]
* Richard Croft (message): I've acquired new evidence that leads me to believe it is the Scion itself that is in some strange way, a vast library of information to rival even Alexandria. I am now convinced that, if I can obtain it, I will finally discovered what happened to my beloved Amelia.
Lara: Oh, Pierre, you litter bug.

[Lara is looking for Pierre among the columns]
* Pierre: I suppose you're more of a dog person.
* Lara: Natla doesn't honor her contracts, Pierre. I'd move on if I were you.
* Pierre: No, mademoiselle. Natla and I understand each other. I find things for her and she rewards me handsomely. But you seek the very thing she does. That is why you are not trusted.
* Lara: I trust my instincts.
* Pierre: And that's why you're in second place. I am a professional, mademoiselle; I focus on the job, and I get paid.
* Lara: There's more to life than money, Pierre.
* Pierre: This isn't life, mademoiselle, it's business. Your compulsion prevents you from seeing the difference.
* Lara: It hasn't prevented me from getting a piece of the Scion. How's business for you?
* Pierre: [pause] Touché. So then, why don't we see whose compulsion gets them the next piece?

[Pierre is holding Lara at gunpoint]
* Pierre: You see, instincts can be expensive. Yours are going to cost you both pieces of the Scion.
* Lara: That's not a price I'm prepared to pay.
* Pierre: Don't be absurd; no job is worth dying for.
* Lara: [pause] Yes, it is.

* Pierre: On second thought, you have it! [Lara takes the Scion] Bonne chance!

[Lara watches a vision]
* Tihocan: You have tainted the power of the Scion; In betraying your fellow Kings you have broken the sacred Triumvirate of Atlantis. You have maimed Qualopec. Your own brother.
* Qualopec: I am still here, wretch. Tihocan has ended your treachery. But it is my face you will see in your nightmares.
* Tihocan: What have you to say for yourself?

===Egypt===

[Lara starts to watch the vision from before]
* Qualopec: But it is my face you will see in your nightmares.
* Tihocan: What have you to say for yourself?
* Natla: The Gods favor action, not council.
* Qualopec: Yet it is this council that rules over you today.
* Natla: You rule over nothing! Atlantis is in ruin; nothing can change that. Everything must burn. Only then can the Seventh Age begin.
* Qualopec: You choose a path to madness. I wash my hands of you.
* Tihocan: For your treachery, for using the knowledge of the Scion to unleash our armies against us, I expel you forever from the sacred order of The Three, and condemn you to shame in the frozen limbo of eternity.
[Lara is surprised to see Natla]
* Natla: It cannot be stopped! The wheels of Kathar are already in motion! Doom will find you both while I rise from the dust of your bones to finish what I've started-
* Tihocan: Nam sing pratem. Fanf te rang. So tan qua lua licheon.
[Natla is frozen by Tihocan's spell]

* Lara: It was you? You were the Queen of Atlantis.
* Natla: Once.
* Lara: And the Scion holds its history.
* Natla: It holds far more than that. All the knowledge of the Ancients; things none of you could even comprehend.
* Lara: What is the Seventh Age?
* Natla: How far are you willing to go to find out, Lara? [snorts] Not far enough, I'm afraid. Kill her quickly. We have work to do.
* Kid: I'm gonna enjoy this.
* Kold: Enjoy watchin'. I'm cuttin' her.

===Lost City===

[Lara finds out that the track has been blocked by a large crate. Larson walks out, holding up a fuse]
* Larson: Sorry, darlin'. This is the end of the line.
* Lara: [sighs] Just hand it over, Larson. This has nothing to do with you.
* Larson: What's it get to do with you? This Scion belongs to Natla; Face it, you got no business here.
* Lara: I don't have time for this. Get out of the way or you die.
* Larson: [snorts] What you gonna to do, shoot me? C'mon, Lara; I just work here. Now I know how bad you want this, but I can't let you pass. And we both know you're not gonna kill me for it. [Lara hesitates] That's just not who you are.
* Lara: [expression changes] I'm not who you think I am.

* Kold: I was hoping you'd to show up; I want to make you scream.
* Lara: Unless you want to end up like Larson, get out of my way.
* Kold: It's so good, isn't it? It gets even better. You can't explain it to people; they have to feel it.
* Kid: Girl, you gotta be out of your mind!

[Lara shoots Kold, who fells weak on floor. She and Kid shoots each other]
* Kid: Not so hard now, are you?
[They start another fire]
* Kold: She is mine.
[Kold stabs Kid and pushes him away]

* Natla: You've reached the top, Lara. There's nowhere left to go but down.
* Lara: You're rebuilding the army of Atlantis.
* Natla: This Pyramid breeds far more than the soldiers you've faced. With the Scion, I now have the means to create anything I desire.
* Lara: What is it you desire, Natla?
* Natla: It takes Three to rule. Tihocan and Qualopec were too weak to destroy what stands in the way of the Seventh Age. But you have the strength to claim this seat beside me. Immortality has its price. But what are a few lives to sacrifice for your dreams?
* Lara: This is madness.
* Natla: This is what you've been searching for. The answers you've sought your entire life are within the Scion; everything you've done has led you to this place. You're here because you belong here, Lara. That's who you are.
* Lara: I'm sorry, Father.
[Lara shoots the Scion]
* Natla: NOOOOOOO!

[Natla appears]
* Natla: Thousands of years I've waited for this moment! Do you realize what you've done? That blood on your hands, do you believe it was spilled for the good of all man, or for your own selfish desire? Look inside yourself, Lara. Your heart is as black as mine.

[Lara shoots Natla and thinks she is dead. However, she gots Lara by the neck]
* Natla: I cannot die, you fool. [Natla throws Lara away] Sooner or later, you'll run out of bullets.

* Natla: What have you really accomplished here? Nothing but a temporary stay of execution for your kind. This island is just one remnant of Atlantis; I will find another. But you Lara, you have lost everything.
[Lara and Natla fight, which ends with Lara grappling one of the pillars down on Natla]
* Lara: No, I haven't.

==Tomb Raider Underworld==

[Lara in walking, when she hears an explosion]
* Lara: My God...

[Lara finds Zip and Winston, but he pushes Winston back and shoots at Lara]
* Zip: Look out!
* Winston: Stop! It's Lara!
* Zip: I know!
* Lara: Wait!
[The scene ends and we go back to one week before this]
* Zip: Hey Lara. Find it yet?
* Lara: Patience, Zip. I warned you that conveniently undiscovered islands would be scarce in Mediterranean.
* Alister: Are you sure this Eddington chap knows what he's talking about?
* Lara: If he says Father was convinced the path to Avalon was here, I have no reason to doubt it.
* Alister: Fair enough...but it's...well... we've been talking about it and...
* Zip: (interrupting Alister) You've been talking, man. Leave me out of it.
* Alister: It's just...all right, maybe Avalon is real, but just because some mad woman tells you your, your mother didn't die after all... I mean, look... I, I don't want to seem heartless, but this, this idea of your mum living in some, some Celtic underworld... It's a, it's a little bit mental, isn't it?
* Lara: I have no illusions that my mother is holding court in some mythical paradise, Alister. I only want the truth, whatever it may be. I'll ring you later.

[Lara opens Niflheim door and starts to film everything in the walls]
* Lara: Incredible. The carvings are clearly similar to early Germanic design, but this is far older the 5th century, yet, strangely enough, more sophisticated. Proto-Norse runes? Let's see...
[She points to something wrote above the door] "World of Mist." That would be Niflheim, the realm of the dead. Not Avalon, exactly, but the Norse equivalent.

[Lara is attacked by the Kraken and starts to film it]
* Lara: Oh, that's lovely. I hope it's as blind as it looks.

* Lara: Thor, the Norse God of Thunder. Whatever are you doing down here in Niflheim. [She sees Thor's gauntlet] According to the Eddas, Thor needed special iron gauntlets to wield his mighty hammer Mjolnir... Could it be?

* Lara: Thor's hammer Mjolnir was powerful enough to level mountains. But how does this all relate to Avalon?
[Lara turns back and realizes five armed mercenaries]
* Mercenary: Put your hands on your head and turn around, slowly.
* Lara: I don't suppose you'd be open to bribery, would you?
[One mercenary knocks her with his weapon. Lara awakes and sees the same mercenary planting a bomb in the chamber's door]
* Mercenary: Amanda Evert sends her regards.
[He explodes the bomb, trapping Lara in the chamber]
* Lara: Bloody hell.

[Lara gets near of a chamber]
* Amanda: Damn, it's too small...
* Natla: Only Lara can use it now.
* Amanda: Until I kill her.
* Natla: Even that won't unbind the artifact...
[The ship shakes]
* Amanda: We're taking on water... Damnit! We'll pick this up again later.
[Lara enters the chamber]
* Natla: I'm very pleased to see you again, Lara. [She turns to Lara] This specimen jar offers little in the way of amusement, so I've grown fond of watching Amanda suffer the effects of sharing you interests.
* Lara: Jacqueline Natla. You just don't know when to die.
* Natla: A trait we have in common.
* Lara: It was you who told Amanda about Avalon.
* Natla: Our time is short, so choose your questions carefully.
* Lara: What do you know about my mother?
* Natla: The Dais you and she found in Nepal. It's part of a... travel network, so to speak. It took your mother to Avalon.
* Lara: My father thought Avalon was below, but that's Niflheim. What's the Norse connection?
* Natla: Ah, Richard found the wrong Norse underworld. Your mother didn't go to Niflheim; she went to Helheim.
* Lara: Where is it?
* Natla: I will tell you where it is, one day. But when that day comes, you'll need Thor's hammer to get inside. Perhaps you'll have better luck finding it than your father did.
* Lara: What do you mean?
[Natla's container is taken by a helicopter and starts to go away]
* Natla: Your answer is on the west coast of Thailand; seventh parallel.

* Lara: None of the runes are visible from down here. And if Father did explore this site, I see no sign of it yet.
* Zip: I still don't see how Thailand is connected with Vikings or ruins under the Med, or hell, even Avalon for that matter.
* Lara: Helheim, Zip. Various myths use different names, but they all apply to the same remnants of the ancient world.
* Alister: One of these remnants is still alive. I would hate to be Amanda if Natla ever gets free.
* Zip: I would hate to be any of us.

* Lara: The characters are Vedic Sanskrit. They're severely weathered... "Bhogavati, of the seventh..." It must be reffering to the capital of Patala, the lowest infernal world in Hindu tradition. It's a netheworld populated by snake-people, although the enlightened one, Narada, spoke rather fondly of it. [Lara watches the giant Shiva statue] That's Shiva on top and his mistress Kali is down below.

* Lara: The architecture here is different... it's similar to the Niflheim ruins.

[Lara opens a door with Thor's first gauntlet]
* Lara: I can see where the rumours of Thor's godlike strength came from.

* Lara: This was here long before the upper temple was added. Proto-Norse runes again. My son, the treasures here and far - this gauntlet's twin, your belt, Megingjord, and the mighty Mjolnir - are protected by the dead to keep Jörmungandr subdued. But the map's been destroyed, and recently. If one of Thor's Gauntlets was here, it's gone now. What's this? "Natla - I see your goal and am your puppet no longer - Richard James Croft." Father did this. "RJC..." Strange... Father never used his middle initial in monograms to avoid confusion with his father. That's where you hid the artifact. You sly old fox. Now if I can just make it back to the boat...

* Lara: And I am Thor no longer, it seems. I wonder how he charged it up again?

* Zip: You find anything?
* Lara: There was a map, but Father destroyed it.
* Alister: Well, the acorn certainly didn't fall very far from the tree.
* Lara: He did it deliberately, to keep the information from Natla. But I'm sure he recorded everything first, and what's more, he found Thor's other Gauntlet.
* Zip: Where did he put it?
* Lara: Right under your nose.

* Winston: My apologies, Lady Croft, but I have not tended to the crypt recently.
* Alister: Why didn't you ever tell us this was down here.
* Zip: Hell, I wish I still didn't know. Ya know what? I will wait here.
* Lara: I did warn you that playing your music so loud could wake the dead.
* Zip: Damn, this is creepy...
* Alister: What makes you think it's here?
* Lara: Father signing his name with all three initials was a clear reference to my grandfather.
* Lara: Light, please.
[She finds a bottom that reveals a secret way below]
* Lara: Ah, it seems my father was full of surprises.

[Lara finds the room where Thor's second gauntlet is]
* Richard: Hello, Lara. Here is this room is everything we recovered from Bhogavati, Thailand. Be especially careful with the thralls - they managed to kill six of us before we boxed them up. They were protecting one of Thor's Gauntlets and a map showing where the rest of his treasures were hidden, all of which are necessary to open the way to Avalon. The Norse believed this site contains a powerful weapon, and to safeguard against this possibility, I destroyed the original map. I hope this was not a terrible mistake, but if it was, I hope you and your mother can forgive me.

[The gauntlet stops to glow]
* Lara: That didn't last long. Ah, well.

[Zip pushes Winston back and shoots at Lara]
* Zip: Look out!
* Winston: Stop! It's Lara!
* Zip: I know!
* Lara: Wait!
[She dodges the shots again, and then points her pistols at him]
* Lara: Drop it, Zip, or I'll drop you!
* Zip: What, so you can shoot me again?
* Winston: It wasn't Lara. Why would she set fire to her own home?
* Zip: She got into the vault. It had to be her.
* Lara: Is that what happened here? Someone blew upon the vault?
* Zip: All right, say it wasn't you. Someone who looked a hell a lot like you opened it using the retina scanner.
* Lara: Impossible.
* Zip: Exactly.
* Lara: Then what happened?
* Zip: You... she got away with Amanda's Wraith Stone.
* Lara: Where is Alister?
* Winston: We haven't seen him.
* Lara: I'm gonna to the Tech Room to watch the security video. You two get out before the roof comes down.

[Lara is in the tech room and suddenly realizes the doppelgänger is on the other side of the glass]
* Lara: No...
[The doppelgänger shoots Alister]
* Lara: No!
[Lara opens the room's doors and tries to fight the thing, but fails. After it escapes, Lara goes to Alister]
* Lara: Alister!
* Alister: I feel... bloody awful.
* Lara: Shhh... Just lie still.
* Alister: I'll see... you...
* Lara: Alister, hold on!
* Alister: ...see you... in... Avalon.
[He dies]
* Lara: Damnit!

[Lara, Zip and Winston escape the burning Manor. Lara paces the grounds, frustrated]
* Zip: Ahh. No!
[Winston exams Alister's neck to see if he is still alive, but he is dead]
* Zip: What the hell was that thing?
* Lara: I've only seen something like it once before - a doppelganger that Natla sent after me years ago, but that one didn't have a mind of its own.
* Winston: But how could Natla have sent it if she's Amanda's prisoner?
* Lara: They're a team of sorts now. Amanda and Natla, her pet Atlantean god.
* Zip: What are we going to do?
* Lara: After I deal with the authorities, I'm going to Southern Mexico to retrieve Thor's Belt.
* Zip: What?! Alister is dead! And... It's just... business as usual?!
* Lara: I need Thor's belt to get his hammer, and I need the hammer to kill a god.

* Lara: The Mayan calendar had only 360 days, and the remaining five were the Unnamed Days. The Maya believed that each year when the Unnamed Days arrived, the gates to the underworld would open.

* Lara: Mayan hieroglyphs... "The Place of Fear." It's definitely Xibalba. The Mayan land of the dead.

* Lara: The Lords of Xibalba were said to kill visitors for sport by sending them into devious trap room.

* Lara: The Midgard Serpent, Jörmungandr, that lies on the bottom of the ocean, encircling all the world. The coming of Ragnarök. Jörmungandr thrashes beneath the sea, flooding the land and vomiting its deadly poison into the air. The final battle of the gods. Thor kills Jôrmungandr with his hammer, Mjolnir, but then he retreats only nine steps before he succumbs to the serpent's venom.

[Lara gets to a big room, full of Eitr]
* Lara: Jörmungandr, the Midgard Serpent. All these ancient sites inspired underworld myths in later cultures... perhaps because they were all protected by the walking dead.

* Lara: Zip, I have everything I need to get Thor's hammer. Do you have better coordinates for me?
* Zip: Yeah, I enhanced your dad's photos of the map. I'm uploading to your PDA now.
* Lara: And your other project?
* Zip: Haven't tracked'em down, yet. Still working on it.
* Lara: Very good - I'll call when I get to Jan Mayen Island.

* Zip: Hey! You know that big expensive ship of Amanda's?
* Lara: The one on the bottom of the Mediterranean?
* Zip: Uh-huh, that one. She has a sister; the Tisiphone, anchored off the coast of Thailand. Looks like they're picking through your leftovers.
* Lara: Excellent work, Zip - thank you. You've earned some rest. I'll take it from here.
* Zip: Be careful. And when you see Amanda, give her my regards.

* Lara: "Hall of the Slain." Valhalla - Odin's hall, where the warriors who died in battle came to feast and prepare to fight in the final battle of Ragnarök. That makes this Valgrind, the Gate of the Dead. "Old is that gate, and how to unbolt it, few now know." Hmmm. Where are the Valkyries when you need them?

[Lara finds a yeti creature that seems to be dead]
* Lara: Perhaps these yeti creatures inspired the Viking stories of Frost Giants. [Suddenly, the creature revives]

* Lara: Thor, greatest of my sons, and the greatest weapon on Earth, are at last reunited. Upon my return, through rituals old and the power of Mjolnir, together we will open the seals of Helheim and fulfill our destinies. Mjolnir - slayer of giants and the Midgard Serpent. More importantly, the key to Helheim, wherever that is. Time to play Natla a visit.

[Lara returns to the imprisoned Natla, again in the hold of a ship]
* Lara: Avalon, Helheim, I don't care what it's called. Where is it?
* Natla: Look at all you have done. Incredible. I will never doubt you again.
* Lara: Tell me, now!
* Natla: Very well.
[Natla writes something in letters of fire with her finger.]
* Natla: But, before you put me to death, tell me: are you prepared to wait for Odin to appear and perform the ritual to open Helheim?
* Lara: And you know this ritual, of course.
* Natla: I'm sure you've realized that I want to get to Avalon just as much as you do. But neither of us can go alone. You need my ritual and I need you hammer.
* Lara: If... no, when you step out of line, you'll get it.
[Amanda and the doppelganger appear]
* Amanda: Stop!
* Lara: You... destroyed my home. You killed Alister!
* Amanda: I got what I wanted. Isn't that all we care about? [Both Amanda and Lara prepare for a fight. However, the doppelganger takes Amanda and throws her] Arrrrghhh!
* Lara: You can die too! [Lara shoots the doppelganger with the beams, but it escapes from all them and runs away]
* Natla: Ah, Lara, you really are a woman after my own heart.
* Lara: [Lara breaks Natla's glass prision with the hammer] Yahhh!!! [Lara almost kills Natla with the hammer, but decides to let her go] Get out of my sight.
* Natla: Meet you there.

[Lara finds her mother, who is looking down at the Eitr]
* Lara: Mother? Mother, it's me. It's Lara.
[Amelia looks at Lara. She has become a half rotted thing, maybe a Thrall]
* Lara: No... No, no, no... My mother is dead. My mother is dead. My mother died a long time ago. You're not my mother.
[Amelia stumbles forward, reaching out for Lara, who takes her pistols and shoots Amelia until she falls backwards in the Eitr. Natla appears suddenly]
* Natla: I've lived many times longer than your entire civilization, and I've never seen such delicious irony. When I heard what happened to the wife of the great Richard Croft, I knew I could set him on a desperate quest to find what I desired most. Then he betrayed me in Thailand, and for that I killed him myself. But when you showed up with Thor's Gauntlet. Even though I adore Tomb Raider I [classic] I despised the method of saving in that game. It seemed you had to go to such great lengths to be able to save the game if you were a clumsy gamer. There are areas that should have had more Save Crystals because of the chances of totally messing up and killing Lara or having to backtrack.

With Tomb Raider II, I enjoyed the freedom of saving where ever I was but I also accidently reloaded instead of saving. However it was alot better than Tomb Raider I [classic] & Tomb Raider III. I'd save where ever I knew I would have a problem as and I definitely did not have to backtrack if Lara died or etc. It was great freedom.

Even though I adore Tomb Raider I [classic] I despised the method of saving in that game. It seemed you had to go to such great lengths to be able to save the game if you were a clumsy gamer. There are areas that should have had more Save Crystals because of the chances of totally messing up and killing Lara or having to backtrack.

With Tomb Raider II, I enjoyed the freedom of saving where ever I was but I also accidently reloaded instead of saving. However it was alot better than Tomb Raider I [classic] & Tomb Raider III. I'd save where ever I knew I would have a problem as and I definitely did not have to backtrack if Lara died or etc. It was great freedom.

I must say that after playing Tomb Raider [The Last Revelation] IV & Tomb Raider [Chronicles] V, I did not like the new set up at all. I prefer the original set-up in Tomb Raider I [classic - Tomb Raider III better. I loved the new improvements in each game. I almost wish Eidos and Core had thought that far ahead to made each game the bestb combiding each new ability especially since they redid Tomb Raider [Tomb Raider Legend VII]. It has always been entertaining to watch Lara swan-dive and still do a flip in Tomb Raider II and I often wish for abilities from the newer games to join the older games. It was a pain to have to turn around and crawl out of high crawl spaces with the new ability to flip out of them on Tomb Raider [Chronicles] V.

I wasn't excited about the tightrope walking ability as it seemed to slow Lara down but they could use another method to surpass those type of obstacles with more planning. There are times when Lara seems so slow to do certain actions that is makes it diffifult for her to win in timetrials. I often get so frustrated that I end up restarting them if I screw up something small because it takes more time to recover. It's like stopping at red light after you've been coasting in the car for awhile and then you have to reach the made speed all over and that takes time too.

My addiction to Tomb Raider started back in 1997 (I was 16.) and was playing around in Lara's outdoor obstacle course in Tomb Raider 2 at a friend's house. Finally a game for female gamers that will not disappoint; I was hooked after I first heard Lara say, "No, that's not right..." in her British accent. That summer I bought a Sony Playstation along with my very first Tomb Raider [classic] game.

From then on, I would start collecting each game available for that game console. I also have been fortunate enough to have found Tomb Raider Unfinished Business for the PC but still to this day, I haven't played much of it due to the lack of keyboard freedom; it just doesn't feel right playing without the controller.

Besides being stuck with the Sony Playstation version, I have played Tomb Raider Lengend at a friend's house and have beaten it. I was estatic when I was able to have my own copy and able to borrow a Sony Playstation 2.

I'm currently in the works of trying to replace my destoryed copy of Tomb Raider [classic], snag a copy of Tomb Raider 8 [Anniveristy], Tomb Raider 9 [Underworld], as well as search for the other remainders Gold Versions [Tomb Raider 2 Gold, Tomb Raider 3 Gold, etc.].

Despite my lack of games, I have been fortunate to collect some of the Tomb Raider figurines, 9" Diving Suit, 6" Motorbike, Yeti, Tiger, & Shark figurines. I also have two posters in my possession; Tomb Raider [classic] & Tomb Raider [movie poster]. I have also been lucky enough to purchase a few comics; Tomb Raider/ Witchblade... I will update more later.

It would be helpful to make a clear note about the alternative versions of Lara based on game history changes since she has become very popular after the Tomb Raider movies. Clear changes were noticable in Tomb Raider 7 [ Tomb Raider Legend]. I don't think that it is possible to make one unified timelime for Lara. According to this article she started private tutoring when she was 3 and survived alone in the Himalayas for 2 weeks at the age of 9. I personally think that there are 2 or 3 possible timelines or "continuities" and that they ought to be listed separately. Trying to tie together the Core bio and CD bio is slightly ridiculous. (Also in 1547 Edward VI had only just been crowned at the age of 9, and was unlikely to be giving away estates to a previously unknown family with no Royal connections, the history of General Gordon is barely relevent - why not put in the history of the first Chinese Emperor, the Biblical history of the Ark of the Covenant and the story of the Templars while you're at it? - and the phrase "Lara will witness the discovers of the Luzifers Text" is gibberish.) Because of the alternate versions of the game from Tomb Raider 1-6 to Tomb Raider 7-present that timeline cannot be added for Lara or a BIO for the character; Lara was simply revamped after the Tomb Raider movies. According to classic Tomb Raider 1 [introducion in game booklet], Lara's father was named Lord Henshingly Croft. Later on, according to the booklet it was stated that Lara's family disowned her and she turned to writing to fund her trips. After classic Tomb Raider 1 history has been added and altered to satisfy fans.
